Practitioner Ethics & Compliance Code

The HOPE Method™ is a behavioral regulation system, not a substitute for clinical mental health treatment. All facilitators must adhere to these ethical standards to protect clients and maintain the integrity of the framework.

Scope of Practice

✓ Facilitators MAY:

  • Guide clients through the HOPE Method™ framework and its four pillars
  • Facilitate reflection exercises and behavioral integration practices
  • Identify HOPE System Failure Patterns for targeted intervention
  • Provide accountability and progress tracking for HOPE implementation
  • Deliver workshops, group sessions, and organizational training
  • Use diagnostic tools (HOPE Pulse, Regulation Sequence) for assessment

✗ Facilitators MAY NOT:

  • Diagnose or treat mental health disorders (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)
  • Provide psychotherapy, counseling, or clinical interventions
  • Prescribe medication or recommend discontinuation of prescribed treatments
  • Work with clients in active crisis without appropriate clinical supervision
  • Claim that The HOPE Method™ cures or treats clinical conditions
  • Practice outside their level of certification or training
Crisis Escalation Protocol
Mandatory procedures when clients present with acute risk

If a client presents with suicidal ideation, self-harm intent, psychotic symptoms, or severe trauma responses, facilitators MUST:

  1. Pause HOPE facilitation immediately and do not continue behavioral work
  2. Refer to licensed mental health professional (therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)
  3. Provide crisis resources: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, local emergency services
  4. Document the referral and follow up to ensure client accessed appropriate care
  5. Resume HOPE work only after clinical clearance from the client's mental health provider

Failure to escalate acute risk violates the HOPE Practitioner Code and may result in certification revocation.

Confidentiality & Privacy Standards

Client Information: All client data (session notes, progress tracking, personal disclosures) must be kept confidential unless the client provides written consent for disclosure.

Exceptions: Confidentiality may be broken only when required by law (mandated reporting of abuse, imminent harm to self or others).

Data Security: Facilitators must use secure, encrypted platforms for storing client information and comply with applicable data protection regulations.

Professional Boundaries

Dual Relationships: Facilitators must avoid personal, romantic, or financial relationships with clients that could compromise objectivity or create conflicts of interest.

Capacity Limits: Facilitators must honor their own capacity and refer clients when workload, personal circumstances, or skill gaps prevent effective facilitation.

Continuing Education: Facilitators must stay updated on the latest HOPE Method™ developments and refinements through ongoing training.
